US Embassy In London Warns Americans ‘Keep A Low Profile’ During Trump Visit
President Trump will visit the United Kingdom this week. In anticipation of his visit and the protests that will surely accompany him, the United States Embassy in London has urged Americans in the country to “keep a low profile” during Trump’s visit.
The Embassy issued an alert to Americans in London, advising them to “Be aware of your surroundings. Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings that may become violent. Keep a low profile. Monitor local media for updates. View updates from UK police at met.police.uk and follow @MetPoliceEvents and @MetPoliceUK for guidance.”
The notice also warns that “Several of the events are expected to attract large crowds and there will be road closures in connection with those events.”
The alert is in anticipation of widespread protest that is expected to meet the president when he arrives in London. When he arrives in London, Trump will be greeted by a giant inflatable Trump baby blimp. The blimp will feature an orange baby version of the president throwing a tantrum while wearing a giant diaper.
The Mayor of London gave activists permission to tether the blimp to a place in Parliament Square Gardens. The blimp has been called “Trump Baby.” Trump baby will look down on President Trump from 30 meters above the ground
An event organized on Facebook shows about 60,000 people planning to attend a protest. The event reads: “It’s just been announced: Donald Trump is coming to Britain on a state visit later this year” it continues, “We don’t know when. But let’s be ready — and be prepared to take to the streets in the most incredible protest in our history.”
According to Reuters, a London protest expects more than 50,000 to protest the president’s arrival. A counterprotest is also scheduled for Friday and is intended to welcome Trump to the UK.
Trump will largely avoid London during his visit in an attempt to avoid being confronted with the massive protests expected in the city.
