Fox News Host Laura Ingraham Blasts Trump’s Scandal-Ridden EPA Head, Says He’s “Gotta Go”
On Wednesday, Fox News host Laura Ingraham blasted Trump’s embattled EPA head Scott Pruitt on Twitter, saying that the scandals currently facing Pruitt in Washington are “hurting” the president and Pruitt has “gotta go.”

In her tweet, Ingraham linked a story by The Hill which covered Pruitt’s numerous scandals during his time as the chief of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This is a wing of the executive that nobody really expected the Trump administration to take seriously.
The latest scandal involving the EPA chief involves Pruitt reaching out to conservative donors to score a lucrative gig for his wife, Marlyn Pruitt, who previously worked as a contractor for the Judicial Crisis Network.
The Washington Post reports that Pruitt contacted wealthy donors with influence in the Trump administration to find work for his wife. When that didn’t work, he enlisted an employee of his own agency, Samantha Dravis, to help out in the search.
“And when one donor, Doug Deason, said he could not hire Marlyn Pruitt because of a conflict of interest,” the Post reports, “Pruitt continued to solicit his help in trying to find other possibilities.”
This isn’t the first time that Pruitt has been accused of misusing his authority to further his own personal gain. His time in Washington has been more or less defined by his extravagant spending and use of government funds to provide him with 24/7 security and first class seating on domestic flights. In his first year at the EPA alone, Pruitt spend $3.5 million on his personal security detail, Politico reports.
Ingraham isn’t the only conservative calling for Trump to fire Scott Pruitt. Earlier this month, Republican Senator Joni Ernst said she would support his firing. She said Pruitt “is about as swampy as you get here in Washington, D.C. And if the president wants to drain the swamp, he needs to take a look at his own Cabinet.”
Another prominent Republican, Senator Chuck Grassley, publicly speculated that the EPA was under the influence of the oil industry, in contrast to Trump’s earlier protestations about draining the swamp in Washington.
“Seems like this iron triangle is working its will through the Washington swamp,” Grassley said. “You know how Big Oil has had Washington wired for a long time and I think EPA is part of this Washington swamp delivering this blow to ethanol if it occurs.”
