Alec Baldwin: “I Would Absolutely Win” Against Donald Trump in 2020
Is Alec Baldwin considering a 2020 presidential bid? The actor has seen himself in the news regularly since he began playing Donald Trump during the 2016 election. On Monday, Baldwin was interviewed by Howard Stern.
During the Howard Stern interview, Baldwin said that if he made a run for the White House in 2020 he would “one-thousand percent” win. He said, “If I ran, I would win. I would absolutely win.”
He described his hypothetical campaign as “the funniest, most exciting, most crazy campaign.” He explained that he might actually like running for president because he sees solutions to problems that are “so obvious.”
He said, “The only reason I say that is because I’d love to run for that kind of position to have things just be very common sense.” Baldwin continued, “There’s so many things this country needs to do that are so obvious.”
Baldwin’s portrayal of President Trump has been hugely popular. In February, Baldwin appeared on the show in his pajamas. As Trump, Baldwin was lying in bed, tweeting and eating McDonald’s Egg McMuffins. He called into Fox News’ show Fox & Friends.
Baldwin also captured the president’s tone saying, “I’m saving the economy, destroying ISIS, and right now I’m getting my daily intelligence briefing.”
Alex Moffat, playing Steve Doocy, asked, “Oh, from who?”
“From you guys,” replied Baldwin’s Trump.
Then Baldwin transitioned to one of Trump’s favorite topics, ratings. He said, “Your show is so great! Huge ratings. Of course not as big as the ratings for my State of the Union speech, which was watched by 10 billion people. They say there’s only 7 billion people on Earth, so where did the other three come from? Illegals? I don’t know.”
Whether or not Baldwin is seriously entertaining a run for office is yet to be seen. One thing is certain: he plays the president quite well on T.V.
