The White House Calls The Murder Of Over 50 Palestinians ‘Propaganda’

The United States officially opened the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, Israel today. The decision to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem was hugely controversial. Governments and people around the world condemned the move.

While first daughter Ivanka Trump and the rest of the delegation from the U.S. were celebrating the rmbassy’s opening and saying how they “pray for peace,” Israeli forces were opening fire on Palestinian protesters in Gaza.

According to the Health Ministry, over 50 protesters were killed by Israeli troops. Amnesty International noted that at least half a dozen of those killed were children. The Health Ministry also reported that over 2,400 were injured, many severely.

The White House defended the Israeli army’s gruesome and inhumane execution of countless Palestinian civilians, blaming the Palestinian organization Hamas for the deaths.

White House principal deputy press secretary Raj Shah said of the killings, “We’re aware of the reports of continued violence in Gaza today. The responsibility for these tragic deaths rests squarely with Hamas. Hamas is intentionally and cynically provoking this response. As the secretary of state said, Israel has the right to defend itself.”

This response brings to mind abusers who tell their victims, “look what you made me do.” Shah was pressed by reporters and asked if Israel should “shoulder the blame” for the 55 Palestinians killed by Israeli snipers.

Shah’s response, as is the White House way, tried to reframe the truth to fit a more attractive narrative. Shah answered, “This is a propaganda attempt. This is a gruesome and unfortunate propaganda attempt. I think the Israeli government has spent weeks trying to handle this without violence. And we find it very unfortunate.”

The thousands injured and dozens dead are simply a gruesome propaganda attempt according to the White House.

Hadeel Louz is a 25-year-old, Palestinian human rights activist in Gaza. Louz said of the violence, “It is shocking. We didn’t expect this huge number of martyrs and injuries. Most of the martyrs who are killed are just normal citizens — we are not following Hamas party or Fatah party [the two Palestinian factions]. Even those who follow those parties, they are not in an army — they don’t have guns.”
