Caitlyn Jenner Finally Realizes, ‘Trump Is The Worst President We Have Ever Had’
Caitlyn Jenner is one of the most famous openly transgender women worldwide. She is also an Olympian who became a reality TV star. Jenner supported Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, claiming that Trump would “be very good for women’s issues.”
It is unclear what exactly about the president’s candidacy might have given Jenner the impression that he would be good for women once in office. In fact, the opposite is true. This week alone, the president changed the rules for organizations receiving family planning funding. The effort was directed at defunding Planned Parenthood and requires that no federal funds can go to a facility where abortions are performed or even mentioned. Similarly, it allows organizations that oppose contraception to get the funding. The implications of the rule change are hugely damaging for women nationwide.
Jenner apparently has become aware Trump may actually not have been the best choice for president. She has been critical of the president for his treatment and policies aimed at LGBT Americans.
Jenner said that Trump has been the “worst” for the LGBT community. In an interview with Broadly, she said: “I want him to know politically I am disappointed, obviously.” She continued, “I don’t want our community to go backwards.”
She said, “Just leave us alone, that’s all we want.” She added, “Then maybe later down the line, we can get somebody a little better.”
Jenner then explained why she feels it is helpful that she is a Republican saying, “I think it’s good that I’m on the Republican side because the Republicans know that and I have an immediate in with them to change their minds.”
She continued, “The Republicans need the most work when it comes to our issues, I get that. I would rather work from the inside. I’m not the type of person who is going to stand on a street corner with a sign and jump up and down. No, I’m going to go have dinner with these people.”
Despite her criticism of the president, Jenner would not say that she would not vote Republican in the next election.
