Trump Supporter Says There Is Video Of Hillary Clinton Sexually Abusing A Child
Liz Corkin, a right-wing conspiracy theorist peddling fringe narratives like Pizzagate, posted a video to her Youtube channel last night claiming that a video of Hillary Clinton sexually abusing a child exists on the “dark web.”
“I’m not going to go into too much detail because it’s so disgusting, but in this video, they cut off a child’s face as the child is alive,” she alleged. “I’m just going to leave it at that.”
Unfortunately, far-right theories of pedophile cabals composed of Democrats are nothing new. In late 2016, a Facebook user calling herself ‘Carmen Katz’ wrote a post detailing her supposed findings from an “NYPD source” about a secret pedophile ring of high-ranking Democrats like Bill Clinton and former congressman Anthony Weiner. Weiner had recently been caught sexting a fifteen-year-old girl, in what one might guess was the animus for the fabulist alt-right fiction. The disgraced congressman was later sentenced to 21 months in prison.
The post by Katz reads:
“The email DETAIL [sic] the trips made by Weiner, Bill, and Hillary on their pedophile billionaire friend’s plane, the Lolita Express. Yup, Hillary has a well-documented predilection for underage girls. . . . We’re talking an international child enslavement and sex ring.”
While Pizzagate and related theories may sound fancifully ridiculous on their face and maniacal ramblings of lunatic political obsessives resigned to dark corners of the internet, the Rolling Stone article linked above makes a good point: “fake news has real consequences.” The article details how North Carolinian Edgar Maddison Welch believed the ravings of Alex Jones and showed up at a pizza parlor in D.C. with a semi-automatic rifle.
Rolling Stone writes:
“[Welch], armed with an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, a .38 handgun and a folding knife…strolled into the restaurant and headed toward the back, where children were playing ping-pong. As waitstaff went table to table, whispering to customers to get out, Welch maneuvered into the restaurant’s kitchen. He shot open a lock and found cooking supplies. He whipped open another door and found an employee bringing in fresh pizza dough. Welch did not find any captive children – Comet Ping Pong does not even have a basement.”
While theorists like Liz Crokin make for amusing water-cooler banter among the left, the popularity of right-wing conspiracies should worry everybody. Alex Jones tells his viewers in one video that “Hillary Clinton has personally murdered children.”
The video has been viewed over 427,000 times.
