Kellyanne Conway is one of the most divisive people in Trump’s administration, often spinning the crazy things trump says into something even more insane and distracting half the media into having to cover her “alternative fact”–a term she coined that actually managed to distract us from…something…mass shootings? Russia? Crowd sizes? See. That’s what she does.
But according to Former Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie doesn’t think it’s her fault. In an interview with the New York Times, Christie praised the presidential adviser. “She has this unique position that she’s earned,” Christie said. “She’s gotten a bad rap at times, but I think that’s because of some of the really awful people inside the White House who have been trying to hurt her, as opposed to anything the press came up with on its own.”
He went on to explain why certain staffers might target her. “I think that she is the president’s political adviser and she is someone who is very skilled on television. She’s unique in the White House in someone who can give him both political and policy advice.”
While he didn’t say who was trying to ruin her credibility, one of Conway’s friends told the Times that:
Conway had particularly struggled with Reince Priebus, the president’s former chief of staff, during the first chaotic months of the administration. She also survived efforts to curtail her influence by Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and senior adviser, who for months privately bristled over Ms. Conway’s getting credit for the campaign victory.
Or maybe what gives her a bad rap is because she once references a massacre that never happened.
