While the Pentagon approved Donald Trump’s dictator dreams of having a military parade, the location is still up in the air, especially since Washington D.C. would never be able to host the event.
But Missouri’s young Attorney General, Josh Hawley, might have taken care of that by inviting Trump to hold the parade in his state.
As the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports:
President Donald Trump faced criticism from former military personnel and veterans’ groups when he said he wanted a military parade, complete with tanks, through the streets of Washington, D.C. But he’s gained some support here in Missouri.
On Monday morning, Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley tweeted the military parade should roll through the Show Me State. Hawley is widely considered to be the Republican favorite to take on Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., in the 2018 elections, though rumors of buyer’s remorse have been circulating lately.
Here’s his Tweet:
.@realDonaldTrump, we would love to host the military parade in Missouri. The politicians in D.C. are wrong. Our military and veterans deserve to be honored.

Most of the country, however, sees the parade for what it is–Trump stroking his ego, and they blasted Hawley for inviting Trump to play General in his state.
Honor them by providing them better healthcare and PTSD support. Honor them by helping decrease the number of homeless vets. If you cannot or will not do any of those things, then honor them by shutting all the way up.

you misunderstand — this tweet is SOLELY for Josh, attempting to gain national name recognition.
he doesn’t care about the military he cares about good PR

He bud – why not guarantee all military families health insurance for life or perhaps a living wage? They’ll appreciate that much more than a silly parade.

…or the money could be better spent improving the VA hospitals in Missouri. But, that would be putting substance over style.

This veteran disagrees.
Spend the energy on real diplomacy to make the world safer
Spend the money on VA care, homelessness, etc.

Memorial Day. Veterans Day. Armed Forces Day.

You want to honor military?
1. Sign up. You’re still young enough
2. Rather than wasting money on appeasing Trump’ ego, use the massive cash required for the VA to help injured soldiers.
Or simply: stop trying to use our troops as props for your senate run, you fraud.

Twice a year I go to the cemetery down the street and clean up around the graves of our Civil War Vets. I don’t do it for fame or self gratification. I do it because I appreciate their sacrifice.
Instead of a parade why don’t you give that a try

The truth is that no state could afford to host Trump’s parade, as they would all much rather use the funds to do what some of the Twitter users above mentioned–make the lives of soldiers and veterans better.
And hopefully more Missourians are like this guy:
Who the hell are you? Every single veteran I’ve spoken to thinks it’s a ridiculous idea and only to sooth @realDonaldTrump and his ego. Not in Missouri.
