Christian Activist Mary Colbert Says Trump’s Use of ‘Rough Language’ Is Just Like Jesus

Conservative Christians have fallen head over heels for Trump, believing that he is the best representative of their beliefs. But Religious Right activist Mary Colbert says it’s more than that. She thinks that Trump’s foul language makes Christ-like, and, like God himself, Trump is a “man of his word.”

Colbert criticized other Christians who are offended by Trump’s “rough language,” saying that they must also “have a problem with Jesus because he spoke to the Pharisees and Sadducees and said, ‘You vipers, you snakes.’ He referred to Herod as a fox, and then there is the account of the woman he called a dog. So if you want to find offense, you’ll find offense in anything.”

But it gets better; Colbert says that Trump “is a man of his word, he says what he means, and he means what he says. Well, what character does that imitate? Who is that? God. God says what He means, and He means what He says, so I believe that God saw in the character of Donald Trump a fighter.”

“The church has had its butt kicked for the last 100 years,” Colbert said, adding that God chose a bully like Trump because America could not survive with a “mamsy-wamsy, love and peace kind of a president.”

Over the last 100 years, the Church has only gotten more powerful. In fact, “In God We Trust” wasn’t added to American currency until 1956. Just two years before, that, “under God” was added to the pledge of allegiance—both decisions of Dwight D. Eisenhower. Even the story that George Washington added the phrase “So help me God” to the presidential oath is questionable. The last 100 years, though, have been the best century for Christians. When having someone say “happy holidays” instead of directly naming your holiday feels like persecution, you’re doing pretty well.

Meanwhile, literally every other group has had a pretty crappy 100+ years in America. But maybe Trump is like Jesus. After all, they both have a thing for prostitutes.
